Maybe, the best thing I had when I watched the 2007 Academy Award [I didn't attend my studio class at my colleges (not a good example) to watch this ceremony which start at 9 in the morning (Malaysia time), live from US..!Heh] was to notice about one of the great person in movie industry... This person was ENNIO MORRICONE, a movie composer who won the Honorary Academy Award (Lifetime Achievement Award)...
Before he received the award, there was a montage showing all the movies which he involved in composing the themes and scores... I was shocked..! Because most of the movies showed in that short montage were among my all time best movies such as 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly', 'Cinema Paradiso', 'A Fistful of Dollars', 'Malena', 'The Untouchables' and many more... And the most important thing, all the movie's theme and music score from all those movies were also my favourite, and I only noticed during that moment which all of them came from this only ONE composer, Ennio Morricone! (cam semangat jerk!)
I dont know if you people ever noticed about his music but I really
believed if you hear one or two of his famous score such as from 'A Fistful of Dollars' or 'The Untouchables', you absolutely will say "la, muzik ni aku penah dengar nih..!" or "eh, muzik ni ker..!" This is because if you didnt ever watch those movies yet, some of the music scores were also used in "drama2 melayu lama" especially during early 90's...

Although his name will always be synonymous with the Western or 'cowboy' type of movies, Morricone has also contributed to a huge range of other film genres: comedies, dramas, thrillers, horror films, romances, art movies, exploitation movies -making him one of the film world's most versatile artists... But for me, the best of Ennio Morricone scores was come from 'CINEMA PARADISO', the film by 
Guiseppe Tornatore who also directed 'Malena' and 'The Legend of 1900'... I really recommend this movie because of its marvellous storyline and touching moment... It is not a "jiwang karat" movie_it is a story of the relationship between a young boy with an old man who was a 'reel keeper' at cinema in a small town in Italy... The music score in this movie was very strong and touching because it really have a 'spirit' which connected to the story... At the end of the movie, it almost made me cry..! (am I too sentimental..? HuHu..!) This is because the rhytm and melody of the music score by Morricone plus the beautiful plots from Tornatore which for me was very brilliant and splendid...
Beside that, I also noticed that heavy-metal band Metallica also always starts their shows with Morricone's instrumental "The Ecstasy Of Gold" (from 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly') before appearing on stage. This is one of the example which shows the level of his influence in music industry... Although we people didn't notice his presence, (sorry to say)... For me, he was the the world's greatest living movie music composer, perhaps better than John Williams (Stas Wars, Indiana Jone etc.)... Morricone makes no qualitative distinction between his film scores and has by now more than 100 concert pieces during his life time until present...
